First elected to Ottawa City Council in 2018 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2022, Laura Dudas has proven herself to be a dedicated, results-driven leader for Orléans West–Innes. Having served as Ottawa’s Deputy Mayor during her initial term, Laura brings a wealth of governance experience, a collaborative approach, and a deep understanding of how to get things done at City Hall.

Before entering public office, Laura’s career spanned strategic communications for the City of Ottawa and roles as a journalist for daily newspapers. This background fuels her pragmatic approach to city issues and her unwavering commitment to staying deeply connected with the residents she represents.

On the national stage, Laura represents Ottawa on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). Through this role, she directly advocates for federal investments in Ottawa’s infrastructure, public safety, and smart community development.

Deep Roots & Community Service

For Laura, community service isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong commitment. Long before her election to City Council, she spent nearly a decade volunteering as the President of the Blackburn Hamlet Community Association and working with the former Orléans Chamber of Commerce.

Driving Sustainable Growth in Community Projects

Thousands of trees planted, along with renewed parks and the creation of brand new community spaces, are the result of sustained advocacy and a clear focus on investing in our neighbourhood. I have worked to ensure these projects move forward, strengthening the tree canopy, enhancing existing parks, and delivering new spaces where residents can gather, play, and connect. I will continue to fight for these kinds of investments, so that our community remains green, active, and vibrant for years to come. Renewing our public spaces has been a key priority of mine, especially as many of our parks and recreation facilities were showing their age. From outdated and deteriorating spray posts to modern, accessible splashpads, I have worked to secure the investment needed to upgrade these amenities and better serve families. These improvements reflect a broader commitment to ensuring our parks are safe, functional, and enjoyable, and I will continue to advocate for the renewal of aging infrastructure so residents can take pride in the spaces they use every day. Taking care of the little things that matter is an important part of building a strong community. Living in a mature neighbourhood should not mean accepting decline. I have consistently pushed to ensure that City services are responsive and that the everyday issues residents see, from maintenance to upkeep, are addressed.
